Why Sarandë belongs on your route
Sarandë is the Riviera's main hub: ferries arrive from Corfu in 30 minutes, the road south reaches Ksamil and Butrint in 15, and the road north opens the whole coastal Riviera. The promenade is great for an evening walk, the waterfront seafood is excellent and there is a hotel for every budget. Coastal boat trips from the harbour explore Anchor Cave, Krorëza Beach and Gremina Bay rock formations. Use Sarandë as your southern base and day-trip outward.

Lekursi Castle
A restored Ottoman castle on the hill above Sarandë, 10 minutes by taxi from the centre. The best sunset viewpoint in the south — the whole bay, Corfu and the Ionian Sea laid out below you.

40 Saints Monastery
A 6th-century Byzantine monastery with partially preserved walls and underground chambers, on the hill above the town. Less visited than Lekursi Castle and a quieter alternative for sunset views.

Coastal Boat Trip
Boat tours departing from Sarandë harbour explore Anchor Cave, the cliffs of Krorëza Beach and the rock formations of Gremina Bay, with swimming stops along the way.

Shpella e Pëllumbave
A rock-surrounded cove with a beach bar, reached by a 15-minute walk from the parking area south of Sarandë. One of the most scenic small beaches in the area.

Corfu Ferry
Fast ferries cross to Corfu in 30 minutes from Sarandë harbour, making a Greek island day trip perfectly feasible from your Albania base. Book online a day ahead in July–August.

Ancient Synagogue
The ruins of a large 5th-century AD synagogue with original mosaic floors sit in the middle of the modern town — one of the oldest synagogue remains in the Balkans.
