The beaches
Livadhi is the most social — sunbeds, a few beach bars, calm turquoise water. Llamani, a 5-minute drive north, is calmer and cleaner. Filikuri is only reachable by boat from the port — 20 minutes, completely worth it.
Old Himarë village
The hilltop Greek-speaking village above the modern town. A short but steep climb rewards you with Byzantine churches, flower-filled alleys and the best sea view on the Riviera.
Porto Palermo
A Napoleonic-era castle on a tiny peninsula 10 minutes south, with an old Ottoman-era submarine base next to it. The bay has the clearest water on the coast.
Where to eat
Smaller and more authentic than Dhërmi or Sarandë. Ask your accommodation for the current favourite — the best tavernas rotate.
From the road
Practical tips
- → Himarë has no transport. You need a car.
- → June and September are perfect — warm water, empty beaches.
- → Don't skip the old village. Most tourists stay on the beach and miss it entirely.
