Why Theth belongs on your route
Theth is the most photographed valley in the Albanian Alps — one road in, stone tower-houses (kullas), the Grunas Waterfall 40 minutes from the village, and the legendary day hike over the 1,795 m pass to Valbonë. The Blue Eye of Theth is a 40-minute hike from the parking area (or a 6–7 hour trek direct from the village via Grunas). The 1,200 m Thethi Zipline crosses the valley and needs no reservation. Stay at least two nights. Accessible by minivan from Shkodër from mid-May.

Theth–Valbonë Pass Hike
The finest day hike in Albania: 17 km over a 1,795 m mountain pass between two glacial valleys. Allow 6–8 hours; a guide is recommended for first-timers. Open mid-June to mid-September.

Grunas Waterfall
A 30 m cascade reached by a 40-minute walk from the village centre. The path follows the river through forest and emerges at the base of the falls — one of the most beautiful short walks in the Alps.

Blue Eye of Theth
A small karst spring with vivid turquoise water at the base of a sheer cliff. The hike from the parking area takes about 40 minutes uphill (moderate difficulty). Alternatively, a 6–7 hour trek from the village via Grunas Waterfall. Extremely cold water year-round.

Grunas Canyon
A short gorge trail through narrow canyon walls and over river boulders between Theth and the Blue Eye. Best viewed from the designated viewpoint with a parking pull-off — no safety barriers at cliff edges.

Thethi Zipline
A 1,200 m zipline crossing the valley floor — no reservation required. One of the most exhilarating quick stops in the Alps, offering a bird's-eye view of the valley below.

Lock-in Tower (Kulla)
A traditional stone tower where men under blood feuds once locked themselves in for years for safety. The Kulla in Theth is the best-preserved in Albania and explains the Kanun laws that governed mountain life.
