About this destination

Why Përmet belongs on your route

Përmet sits on the Vjosa, declared Europe's first Wild River National Park in 2023. The Bënjë thermal baths — ancient stone pools in the Lengarica canyon — are free, open year-round, and ten minutes from the centre. Add the canyon suspension bridge, the Rrëzomë waterfall and a long lunch of fërgesë and tave kosi in the old town square.

Top attractions

What to see in Përmet

1

Bënjë Thermal Baths

Ancient Ottoman stone pools in the Lengarica canyon, with natural spring water at 22–28°C. Free entry, open all year, 10 minutes from Përmet town. The most accessible thermal baths in Albania.

2

Lengarica Canyon

A dramatic limestone gorge carved by the Lengarica river, with turquoise water running through its base and a suspension bridge above — a short but spectacular walk from the baths.

3

Vjosa Wild River National Park

The Vjosa is the last major wild river in Europe — free-flowing from source to sea without a single dam. Declared Europe's first Wild River National Park in March 2023. Kayaking and river walks available.

4

Rrëzomë Waterfall

A 25 m waterfall above the Bënjë baths, reached by a 1.5 km riverside walk. The path follows the canyon wall through forest with views down into the turquoise gorge below.

5

Përmet Old Town

A relaxed small-town square known for its specialities: hand-picked wild rose jam, simit bread rings, and locally distilled mulberry raki. The farmers' market on Sunday mornings is excellent.

6

Kisha e Labovës

One of Albania's oldest surviving churches, dated to the 6th century and attributed to Justinian I. On a hillside above the Drino valley 20 minutes from Përmet — a quiet and atmospheric stop.
