Beachfront on the old beach, and the most ambitious kitchen in Vlorë — spicy octopus that people describe in unreasonable terms, sea bass off the grill, shrimp and truffle pasta. The meat is reputedly as good as the fish, which is unusual here.

The upscale end of Sarandë's seafront — Mediterranean cooking with Albanian roots, and the only kitchen in town people argue about on the strength of its steak as much as its fish. Opens at two on Mondays, midday otherwise.

Family-run, facing the Ionian, and busy enough that the honey-fried feta and the grilled octopus are gone by late evening. Cash only and no reservations, so arrive early or expect to wait on the step with everyone else.
Durrës
The restaurant of a hotel on Taulantia Street, trading since 1995 and describing its kitchen as fresh fish and Italian cooking. The dishes it lists online run to seafood salad, linguine, grilled sea bass and salmon, with a pizzeria added later; the chef's own listed speciality is linguine with vongole.
