The short answer
Dhërmi sits on the Riviera beyond the Llogara Pass. The journey breaks into two documented legs: Tirana to Vlorë, about 150 km and roughly 2 to 2.5 hours mostly on motorway, then Vlorë to Dhërmi, about 1 hour 15 over the pass. Add the airport connection at the start. Bus frequency on the coast road is very seasonal — good in summer, sparse the rest of the year.
Getting out of the airport
Tirana International Airport sits about 17 km north of the city, roughly 20 to 30 minutes away. The LU-NA airport bus runs to central Tirana around the clock, every hour on the hour, taking 30 to 40 minutes and stopping behind the Palace of Opera and Ballet, a few minutes from Skanderbeg Square. Official airport taxis wait in front of the terminal — yellow, branded TAXI Tirana Airport, with the Auto Holiday Albania and airport logos on both sides.
Rental car — the flexible way
This is the drive people come to Albania for. The A2 covers the Tirana to Vlorë leg in about 2 hours, then the road climbs the Llogara Pass and drops onto the Riviera, reaching Dhërmi in about another hour and a quarter. It is one of Europe's great coastal drives and the only option that is reliable outside the summer season.
Bus and furgon — the cheap way
In summer the coast road is served well enough to do this by bus: airport bus into Tirana, bus or furgon to Vlorë, then a Riviera service over the pass. Outside summer that last leg thins out considerably, and it is the leg with no easy alternative. Check the current Riviera services before committing to a bus plan in shoulder season.
Which option is right for you
In July and August the bus chain works and saves a lot of money. Outside those months, a car or a transfer is the honest recommendation — not for comfort, but because the Vlorë to Dhërmi leg is the one that stops running.
