The Albanian Riviera between Sarandë and Vlorë is the country's headline scenery — turquoise water, cliff-backed beaches, mountain road switchbacks. Base in Himarë or Dhërmi for the prettiest beaches, Sarandë for transport and Ksamil for the iconic islets.
The Albanian Alps (Theth & Valbonë)
Two storybook alpine valleys joined by a 7–9 hour pass. The classic loop: Shkodër → Komani Lake ferry → Valbonë → hike to Theth → minivan back to Shkodër. Allow at least four days.
UNESCO old towns (Berat & Gjirokastër)
Two Ottoman stone cities a 90-minute drive apart. Berat for soft photogenic Mangalem houses and a working castle quarter, Gjirokastër for slate-roofed grandeur and a brooding fortress.
Tirana, the capital
Spend two nights. Bunk'Art 1, the new bazaar, a long Blloku evening and an espresso on Skanderbeg Square is plenty for a first visit.
